Puebla Group to meet in Honduras to discuss integration

Tegucigalpa, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) The Puebla Group will meet this weekend in Honduras to discuss the importance of integration and the threat to social justice that the far right represents today.

The meeting will take place within the framework of the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the coup d’état in this Central American country, under the slogan ‘Change is justice, Honduras the strength of re-foundation,’ local media reported.

A report from TV Channel 8 stated that the inauguration of the event on June 29 will be attended in person and virtually by national progressive leaders such as Honduran President Xiomara Castro and former President Manuel Zelaya.

The following former presidents are expected to participate as well Alberto Fernández (Argentina), José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spain) and Rafael Correa (Ecuador), among other personalities.

Various panels will address issues such as the challenges posed by the advance of the ultra-right wing and the group’s action plan to confront this situation with democratic and progressive proposals to restore freedom, rights and social justice to Ibero-American countries, according to the information disclosed.

The Puebla Group is a political and academic forum founded in July 2019 in the Mexican city of Puebla and is composed of representatives of the Latin American and European left.
