The event, which will last until June 29, will be attended by 17 bands, nine foreign and eight from Cuba, under the premise of defending rock as a musical genre.

According to the website www.giron.cu, this year’s edition of the Festival will feature photographic and tattoo exhibitions, film shows, performances, the usual theoretical event, the presentation of magazines of the Generación Rock project and a live show by visual artists.

Yadiel Duran, president of the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) in Matanzas, explained that one of the objectives of the event is to expand its limits through the interrelation of the arts in a general way and that’s how the program has been conceived.

Durán added that the 25th edition of the Atenas Rock Festival is sponsored by the Cuban beer Parranda and supported by several cultural institutions nationwide.

The musical presentations at the Atenas Rock Festival will take place at the Entre Puentes Square and the AHS Colonial Patio, both in the city of Matanzas.
