Luanda, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Angola and Ivory Coast signed today 14 agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, mineral resources, oil and gas, health, scientific research, tourism, and military and technical cooperation.

In the Ivorian city of Abidjan and in the presence of Presidents João Lourenço (Angola) and Alassane Ouattara (Ivory Coast), the legal instruments were signed by the ministers of the corresponding portfolios and in some cases by the foreign ministers of both countries.

The leaders of the two countries held talks on Thursday, a conversation which, according to Ouattara, was very fruitful and allowed to strengthen bilateral relations a little more.

In a press conference, the Ivorian head of state described the signed agreements as a sign of the common will to strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation, and he also mentioned that an economic forum will be held tomorrow between businessmen of both parties.

This will contribute to increase trade and investments between the two nations, he said, and added that there is interest in exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of hydrocarbons and in other areas.

Ouattara also highlighted the work of Angola and in particular of President Lourenço to achieve peace and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, the Angolan president reviewed the historical relations between both countries and affirmed there is a reciprocal interest in recovering the time elapsed and strengthening ties.

He expressed the will to work every day with more strength in the areas where the legal instruments were signed and in the areas identified as new spaces of possible exchange.
