In a press release, the PT repudiated the coup operation perpetrated on Wednesday in the neighboring country against the constitutional government of President Luis Arce.
Founded by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the political organization with the largest left-wing membership in Latin America called for the defense of institutions and democracy in Bolivia.
“The coup movement in Bolivia must be repudiated by all democratic forces. Solidarity with the constitutional government of President Luis Arce,” PT leader Gleisi Hoffmann wrote on X.
In view of the facts, Lula told reporters that he encourages democracy to prevail in Bolivia, the scene of an attempted coup d’état that, according to the progressive leader, never worked.
On social networks, the head of State later strummed that “Brazil’s position is clear. I am a lover of democracy and I want it to prevail throughout Latin America.”
We condemn any form of coup d’état in Bolivia and reaffirm our commitment to the people and democracy in the brother country, led by Luis Arce, he remarked.
