In an interview granted to the portal UOL, Lula did not detail Milei’s lines included in that demand, but made the statement when questioned about the negotiations to repatriate from the neighboring country about 180 fugitives involved in the January 8, 2023 coup attempt in Brasília.
‘We are dealing with it in the most diplomatic way possible. I did not talk to the president of Argentina because I think he has to apologize to Brazil and to me.
He said a lot of nonsense, the progressive leader pointed out in the interview.
He specified that it will not be a ruler who will create a discord between Brazil and Argentina.
‘The Argentine people and the Brazilian people are older than the presidents. They want to live well, to live in peace’, he said. About the fugitives, Lula answered that he expects them to be returned to Brazil or, if it is not possible, to be detained in the countries they fled to.
‘You have a condemned part.
That part, both my minister (Ricardo) Lewandowski (of Justice), Andrei (Rodrigues, director general) of the Federal Police (PF), plus Mauro Vieira ( foreign minister) of Itamaraty, are discussing to see what follows: if those guys do not want to come, let them be arrested there (in nations to which they fled)’, he reiterated.
The PF is using intelligence resources to try to find out who escaped, where they fled and where they are at the moment.
The Foreign Ministry has not yet sent a request for information to Paraguay and Uruguay about the convicted escapees in the case.
Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the escapees requested asylum in Argentina and also that they crossed the borders of Uruguay and Paraguay.

Lula insta a Milei a ofrecer disculpas a Brasil
Brasilia, 26 jun (Prensa Latina) El presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva instó hoy a su homólogo de Argentina, Javier Milei, a que ofrezca disculpas a Brasil por declarar tonterías, sin detallar cuales serían esas necedades.
En una entrevista concedida al portal UOL, Lula no detalló las líneas de Milei incluidas en esa demanda, pero dio la declaración al ser cuestionado sobre las tratativas para repatriar desde el país vecino a cerca de 180 prófugos implicados en la tentativa golpista del 8 de enero de 2023 en Brasilia.
‘Lo estamos tratando de la manera más diplomática posible. No hablé con el presidente de Argentina porque creo que tiene que disculparse con Brasil y conmigo.
Dijo muchas tonterías’, señaló el líder progresista en la entrevista.
Precisó que no será un gobernante quien creará una cizaña entre Brasil y Argentina.
‘El pueblo argentino y el pueblo brasileño son mayores que los presidentes.
Ellos quieren vivir bien, vivir en paz’, refirió. Sobre los prófugos, Lula respondió que espera que sean devueltos a Brasil o, si no es posible, ser detenidos en los países a los que huyeron.

La PF utiliza recursos de inteligencia para tratar de encontrar quién escapó, por dónde huyó y dónde está en este momento. El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores aún no envió una solicitud de información a Paraguay y Uruguay sobre los escapados condenados en el caso.
Los investigadores no descartan la posibilidad de que los huidos solicitaron asilo en Argentina y también que hayan cruzado las fronteras de Uruguay y Paraguay.
