During this sixth tour of the province in 2024, the head of State visited the municipality of La Palma, where he highlighted the people’s efforts to counter the complex economic situation that is affecting the country.

If some of them can cope with the same intensified blockade, that shows that with work, a lot of work, we have to face the current situation, Diaz-Canel said at a meeting with local people.

In La Palma, which has a population of 40,000, Diaz-Canel visited the La Palma Agroforestry Enterprise, which might eliminate losses accumulated since 2023 this year, the Presidency reported on its X profile.

The area currently occupied by the farm was a Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC), which became a development area to plant cassava, plantain and sweet potato in red ferrallitic soils, and looked after by seven workers.

When asked about the strategy used by managers and workers, the president insisted on the need to promote the diversification of production.

Diaz-Canel previously visited San Luis, Consolacion del Sur, Minas de Matahambre, Sandino and Viñales municipalities, in that order.
