On X, the president posted, “this is another blow to the criminal structures, comfortable with the lack of action by previous authorities.”

He pointed out that 108 prison guards were denounced, in reference to the investigations initiated at the beginning of June by the Penitentiary System (SP) authorities as a result of the entry of unlawful objects into the center.

This morning, Arevalo visited the place alongside Interior Minister Francisco Jimenez, SP director Sergio Vela, and other security officials.

In statements to local press, Arevalo explained they arrived to check how the work was progressing.

He commented that it is about the rescue of this prison, “because inmates, more than being confined, it seems they were on vacation, there is a swimming pool inside,” he remarked.

Something that they built and they had their small cages for animals, the 65 year-old politician noted about the elements that were discovered after the operation and the transfer of prisoners.
