Triumph of freedom, release of Julian Assange, affirmed Maduro

Caracas, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro considered today as a triumph of freedom and the struggle of humanity for the respect of Human Rights, the release of Julian Assange, after more than five years in prison.

On behalf of the people of the Bolivarian Republic ‘we embrace and congratulate Julian Assange for his release’, wrote the head of state in his X account.

Maduro expressed that Assange is an example of courage and bravery in the battle for the truth.

Justice will always prevail,’ he said.

Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said on the same social network that the Australian journalist was released ‘after an unjust imprisonment aimed at intimidating those who defend truth, peace and denounce the crimes of imperialism’.

Gil indicated that his freedom represents the triumph of popular pressure against barbarism.

The struggle continues with more strength than ever,’ he assured.

Minister for Culture Ernesto Villegas recalled through a post that in 2020 the XVI International Book Fair of Venezuela included in its programming a space of solidarity with Julian Assange.

He stated that it was a tiny grain of sand in the global struggle for his freedom, which finally became a reality yesterday.
