Dominican Gov’t supports treatment of children with ASD

Santo Domingo, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Government handed over on Monday six million pesos (some USD$101,000) to the Social Inclusion and Autism Comprehensive Foundation, a non-profit organization that assists children with this condition.

The administrative interim minister of the Presidency, Igor Rodríguez, made the delivery as part of the Executive’s support to these institutions. Rodriguez expressed the intention of the current administration to support the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders.

The president of the foundation Alda Puello thanked, on behalf of the community, the response received from the authorities.

“We are representing hundreds of families who need help”; we thank President Luis Abinader and the authorities who identified themselves with this cause, she said.

Pedro Ruiz de la Rosa, vice president of the institution, took the opportunity to introduce his son, who suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and expressed his gratitude for the contribution given to the development of these children.
