We denounce, as we do in all international forums, the shameful US blockade against the homeland of Jose Marti, Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Maneiro Gaspar said at the Simon Bolivar House Museum.
On this significant day for our homeland, on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people, we stand in solidarity with the Cuban resistance, the ambassador said on commemorating the 203rd anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo.
Every year on June 24, the Battle of Carabobo is commemorated in Cuba, representing the victorious conclusion of the Venezuelan emancipation process and the foundation of the Bolivarian Army.
Maneiro Gaspar criticized the US Government’s policy of expanding its economic, political, and cultural control in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. He also criticized its interference in Nicaragua’s affairs.
The diplomat also highlighted the importance of the Batalla and the Bolivarian Army, which he considered a vital force in defending the socialist project initiated by Hugo Chávez and continued by Maduro in Venezuela.
