Two Syrian towns receive new batch of Russian humanitarian aid

Damascus, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) The army of the Russian Federation delivered a new batch of aid in the towns of Maloula and Sednaya, located about 50 kilometers north and northwest of Damascus, the capital.

The delivery of the aid was carried out at the request of the Syrian government and supervised by the commander of the Russian forces in Damascus, Major General Rodionov, and the deputy head of the Russian Coordination Center in Damascus and the Southern Region, Yuri Popov.

The deputy commander of the Russian Forces for Reconciliation Affairs, Major General Sergei Gashkov, stated that the aid was provided by the Russian Coordination Center. It is intended for those sheltered in the monasteries of Saint Thecla, Sarkis and Bakhos, and the Lady of Sednaya, in the two aforementioned localities. “With this gesture we intend to help these people to alleviate their sufferings amid the difficult circumstances that the country is going through,” the officer said.

The heads of the two monasteries thanked the gesture and highlighted the positive role that Russia plays through the humanitarian aid it provides in several Syrian regions.

The assistance included foods such as flour, oil, canned food, and milk.

More than four thousand humanitarian operations have been carried out since 2015, during which around 600 thousand tons of food, medicine, and basic materials were delivered.
