The head of operations of the Secretariat of Risk Management and National Contingencies (COPECO), Luis Salinas, said that at national level more than 3,470 Hondurans are reported as affected by the heavy downpours and some 180 communities are cut off from communication.
According to a report of Canal 8, the areas where disasters are predominant are in the municipality of Alianza in Valle and the department of Lempira where several sectors have been left practically without communication routes.
The information detailed that the authorities strengthened the delivery of humanitarian aid by air to areas of Lempira where food and basic hygiene kits will be delivered.
The head of COPECO, José Jorge Fortín, stated that he is in constant communication with the southern region of the country where a significant decrease in available supplies has been confirmed and announced the shipment of a new round of supplies for those affected.
