Parlatino urges to celebrate Latin American and Caribbean unity

Dia-Unidad-Latinoamericana-Caribe-1
Panama City, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) The Parlatino (Latin-American Parliament), based in Panama since 2006, celebrates on Saturday the Day of Latin American and Caribbean Unity, a dream of the Liberator Simón Bolívar that sought expression in the Amphictyonic Congress in 1826.

The regional legislature, chaired by Cuban deputy Rolando González Patricio, urged parliaments and societies to commemorate this date, which is highly representative of the aspirations of the peoples.

The unity of Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the essential purposes of the oldest legislative forum in the region, which in this 2024 celebrates 60 years of uninterrupted work in favor of objectives such as integration.

Parlatino had the initiative to celebrate every June 22 the Day of Latin American and Caribbean Unity in honor of the installation of the Amphictyonic Congress of Panama, a project approved at the XII Ordinary Assembly held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 23 to 27, 1988.
