Salvadoran migrants detained at southern US border increase

San Salvador, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) The number of Salvadoran migrants detained at the southern border of the United States increased by ten percent in the last month, the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) informed on Friday.

A CBP report, quoted by El Mundo newspaper, indicated that more than 20,000 Salvadorans have been detained in the last five months.

Thursday’s data from that agency showed an increase from 4,317 migrants in April to 4,759 in May.

The number of foreign migrants detained on the US border fell by five percent, from 179,742 in April to 170,723 in May.
