Cobreiro, who is a Counselor for Education and Science at the Cuban Embassy in the Russian Federation, received the scientific title of Doctor of Technical Sciences from the same institution in 1995.

The Doctor Honoris Cause title acknowledges his comprehensive professional career, contributions to Cuban higher education, and the academic relations between Cuba and Russia.

Cobreiro is the first Cuban to receive this title at a university that, in its 128-year history, has awarded the title to prominent figures, such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, and several outstanding Russian and foreign personalities.

Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendia, besides Cuban diplomats, officials, and students, attended the ceremony.
