As part of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, the meeting pulled in scholars, representatives of institutions and industry, both from the public and private sectors, as well as financial entities with the purpose of improving Latin American capacities to produce medicines and vaccines.

According to Verez, the majestic event addressed the way to connect academies and vaccine producers in Latin America and the Caribbean with project financing possibilities.

I do believe that as a result of the forum, a consensus was reached to work in the coming days on the integration of various participating actors, in order to bolster regional production of medicines and vaccines.

Regarding the Cuban attendance, Verez deemed it important that contacts were established with financing sources, some of which already have joint work experiences and others with perspectives.

We were connected in our goal of completing the investment strategy of the institution to play the role of something like a regional hub, which contributes to Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, he explained.
