Swiss museum removes paintings looted by Nazis

Bern, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) The Museum of Fine Arts in Zurich removed five of its major paintings, including works by Van Gogh, Monet and Gauguin, from a private collection linked to Nazi looting during World War II.

The operation is part of an investigation that is being conducted by the foundation established by the family of German art collector Emil Bührle (1890-1956).

After several years of suspicion, the Kunsthaus Gallery decided to remove the paintings and plans to do the same with another artworks from the controversial family series, which has been displayed in the museum since 2021.

The Emil Bührle Art Collection consists of 203 works that were on loan to the museum from the foundation named after the art collector.
