Pantomime event in Cuba welcomes the art of gestures

Havana, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) With a tribute to Cuban visual artist Alexis Gutiérrez and the performance Aleluya, the 10th International Pantomime Festival Havana 2024 continues on Thursday in this capital until Sunday.

The Tito Junco Hall of the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Center, the venue for the event, will open its doors to a conversation about the work by Gutierrez, who is also linked to the world of literature.

Later, the show Sin Palabras, by Italian artist Matteo Cionini, and a talk on the physical theater Polimnia by Iván Olmo, from Puerto Rico, will take place.

The Cuban company Teatro del MIMO CLAN, directed by Maestro Omar Amador, will present the show Cimarrón, while Markus Schmid, a guest from Switzerland, will perform in Whomyn.

Dedicated to Physical Theater and the work of Polish artist Henryk Tomaszewski, the meeting was inaugurated on Wednesday by Teatro del Cuerpo Fusión, directed by Maritza Acosta, and a tribute to two exceptional artists: Mateuz Kowalski (Poland) and Javier Alejandro Soria (Cuba).

Summoned by this authentic expression, representatives of Cuba will bring together 21 guest artists from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Italy, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Spain and Poland.

In addition to the traditional parade through several avenues in Havana, there will be book launches, vernacular prints, and tasting of dishes with themes linked to the event, among other initiatives.

The 10th International Pantomime Meeting is organized by Teatro del Cuerpo Fusión to create a positive impact on society through the art of gestures.
