Companies from Cuba and Italy strengthen ties at Cubaindustry

Havana, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) Within the framework of Cubaindustry 2024, the Cuban company Refrigeración y Calderas (RC) and the Italian firm NCR Biochemical expanded collaboration ties, a sign of the effectiveness of exchanges to achieve industrial complementarity.

In statements to Prensa Latina, RC General Director Ernesto Pérez explained that they had signed a work agreement on Wednesday that will formalize relations between both enterprises and will give continuity to a memorandum of understanding signed in Italy this year. The agreement consists of increasing energy efficiency in the rational use of fuels to consolidate RC’s industrial processes as it is an entity specialized in the supply of thermal energy, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation with presence throughout the national territory.

NCR Biochemicales, he continued, is an international chemical company with global prestige that focuses on water treatment and biotechnology, with presence in more than 40 countries, where it produces some 460 products.

Pérez added that the Italian enterprise focuses on finding solutions to its own productions, the impact on the energy efficiency of the technological systems it serves, and evaluating the scope of its interventions in the various areas where it operates.

Whether it is a thermoelectric plant, a refinery, a paper company, herbicides for agriculture and plant growth, in different forms of waste plants, water purification plants, and in addition, NCR Biochemicales makes both its products and equipment, he noted.

He added that business contacts began more than three months ago and, so far, a technical exchange of experts in water treatment has already taken place in Cuba.

In Pérez’s opinion, there are real possibilities of materializing cooperation with Cuba, and establishing an International Economic Association in the medium term that would allow the continued reduction of the costs of chemical products, especially those used in the water system intended for various purposes, such as those associated with boilers and solar issues, he stressed.

Pérez pointed out that NCR Biochemicales identified that Cuba has potential, and most importantly, the Italian company’s message of minimizing costs in order to have a positive impact on RC production.

The Italian company, he said, is aware of the complex economic situation in Cuba due to the blockade imposed by the Government of the United States; however, they intend to approach Cuba and seek market opportunities together with RC.

In that regard, he stressed that they are also evaluating the possibility of exporting the products made in Cuba in nearby countries, thus allowing them to lower transportation costs.

NCR Biochemical Strategic Business Developer Loris Leporati, in turn, explained that his company intends to help Cuba, show how a small investment in a certain sector can lengthen the useful life, in the end that represents savings for the nation.

Cubaindustry 2024 has a broad agenda of activities that include scientific and technical exchange, the strengthening of technological associations, the promotion of exportable products and the consolidation of national productions.

The event is taking place until June 21 at Havana’s Convention Center and at the Pabexpo fair grounds and its fundamental objective is to achieve greater integration, complementarity, and international insertion of the country in the industrial sphere.
