Havana, Jun 18 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban publishing house Arte y Literatura invites this Thursday to the Dialogue with Borges space, at 14:00 local time at the Hispano-American Centre of Culture in Havana, as a tribute to the great Argentine writer who died on June 14, 1986.

The meeting will include a discussion about the life and work of Jorge Luis Borges, and the screening of an episode dedicated to this author, from the Documentary Cycle by journalist Román Lejtman, according to information from the Cubarte newspaper.

It will show interesting details about the writer through the letters written to him by his mother, Mrs Leonor Acevedo, and to his relatives.

The activity will be accompanied by a photographic exhibition showing the first autobiography published by Borges in an Argentine magazine, and snapshots of his reunion with Ernesto Sábato, after years of estrangement, among other images of his career.

The Cuban publishing house released Dos conferencias by Borges in 1991, in the Vagamundos collection; and, in 2004, Los dos Borges.

Vida, sueños, enigmas, a biography written by the Chilean author Volodia Teitelboim.

Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges (Buenos Aires, 24 August 1899-Geneva, 14 June 1986) was an Argentine writer, poet, essayist and translator, widely considered a key figure in both Spanish and world literature.

Borges’ work has greatly contributed to philosophical literature, the fantastic genre and post-structuralism, and profoundly influenced the magical realism of Latin American literature during the 20th century.
