According to forecasts from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), a tropical storm warning is in effect for the Texas coast from San Luis Pass south to the mouth of the Rio Grande River and for the northeast coast of Mexico south of the mouth of the Rio Grande River to the Port of Altamira.
In the early hours of this morning, the disturbance was centered near latitude 22,7 North, longitude 94,3 West, moving west-northwestward at about 13 kilometers per hour (km/h).
“A generally westward movement with increasing forward speed is expected over the next day or so, and the system is forecast to reach the coast of northeastern Mexico by tonight or early Thursday,” the NHC report states.
Maximum sustained winds remain at about 65 km/h with stronger gusts and some increase in strength is possible before the system reaches the coast.
