The Argentine head of State plans to visit Spain this Friday, June 21, to receive an award from the Juan de Mariana Institute, which will also give an award to Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

At a press conference, Alegría stressed that she does not know Milei’s agenda in Madrid, “but if the trip finally takes place, I hope that during his statements he will respect the people of Spain and its institutions.”

Far from silencing his incendiary prose, the Argentine president continued his attacks on the head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez.

More than once, Milei has lashed out against Sánchez and his wife, Begoña Gómez, whom he called “corrupt,” although she has not even been charged in Spain.

As a result of Milei’s offenses, the Spanish Executive definitively withdrew its ambassador in Argentina, and reduced the level of the diplomatic mission to a Chargé d’Affaires.

Sanchez stated in the Congress of Deputies that his wife is “an honest, serious and responsible professional, and my government is a clean government,” thus responding to the remarks from the Argentine president.

“Between governments, affections are free, but respect is inalienable”, Sánchez stressed on more than one occasion.

Milei was a guest at the G7 Summit and on peace in Ukraine, and had no contacts with the head of the Spanish Executive.
