acuerdo-ue-africa-austral-1
Luanda, Jun 18 (Prensa Latina) The Ministerial Political Dialogue between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the European Union (EU) taking place in the capital of Angola will focus on issues of peace and security.

Topics such as human and sustainable development, climate change, the environment, trade, and investment, will also be on the agenda of the meeting, where the European External Action Service (EEAS) represents the EU in the talks.

The Executive Secretariat of the SADC and the member states of the dual troika represented by Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe will be the interlocutors for Southern Africa.

The dialogue session is expected to serve as a platform to strengthen relations between both blocs and to promote cooperation in areas of peace and security, trade, and policies, with a view to sustainable economic growth.

The meeting will also review the progress in implementing SADC-EU cooperation and the Africa-Europe Global Portal investment and programming package.

It will also address global, continental, and regional issues that affect, not only the situation of peace and security in the region but also development and cooperation.

The last session of the SADC-EU Ministerial Political Dialogue was held on June 16th, 2021, and Angola is hosting the new meeting as acting president of the Community.
