Naval institution spokesman Gan Yu disclosed that Manila violated its commitments by sending a supply ship and two inflatable boats into the waters near Ren’ai Reef in the Nansha Islands, attempting to deliver supplies to a Philippine warship that has been stranded there for 24 years.
In the process, the Philippine supply ship came dangerously close and deliberately collided with a Chinese vessel that was sailing normally, Gan said.
The spokesman detailed that the China Coast Guard took control measures following the law, including issuing warnings, boarding the vessels, conducting inspections, and forcible removal; emphasizing that the actions were reasonable, legal, professional, and standardized.
“Once again, we sternly warn the Philippine side that any form of infringement or provocation will be futile”, Gan emphasized.
