With nearly 40,000 people officially declared killed and many more buried under the rubble, the agonies are terribly worse than what the United Nations describes as hell on Earth, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) wrote on X, on the occasion of the so-called Festival of Sacrifice, the second of the two Islamic festivals celebrated worldwide every year.
The Indian leader took the opportunity to reiterate his call on Tel Aviv to end the genocide of the Palestinians, which Yechury described as a monstrosity.
He also called once again to prosecute Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes.
On Monday, on the second day of Eid-al-Adha, Israel killed five Palestinians in two attacks on the Gaza Strip, where it also wounded some 20 inhabitants of the coastal enclave besieged by Tel Aviv.
Since the outbreak of the new cycle of violence on October 7, last year, more than 37,000 Palestinians have been killed and 85,000 injured in Gaza, according to official sources.
While in the West Bank 548 Palestinians have died so far, 5,200 have been injured and 9,300 are behind bars, according to official reports.
