“Our congratulations to the journalists and workers of @PrensaLatina_cu, the agency emerged from Operation Truth, with the leadership of Massetti, its first director, and the work of the most prestigious companies of Our America, which remains faithful to the legacy of its founders,” Diaz-Canel wrote on X profile.
Earlier, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, and other national authorities urged this news agency to continue always at the service of Cuba and other nations’ truth.
In his message, Rodriguez highlighted Prensa Latina (PL)’s commitment to the truth and the defense of the just causes of nations globally “regardless of the complex circumstances.”
Communist Party (PCC) Central Committee Organization Secretary Roberto Morales, who described PL as an institution of the Revolution, also made a statement on the same social platform.
During the date’s celebration on Friday, Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique Gonzalez stated that PL fights battles against disinformation amid media campaigns by communication monopolies, intelligence agencies, and governments interested in silencing it.
Prensa Latina has correspondents in 35 countries, collaborators in dozens of nations, and agreements with more than 100 international media while overcoming different obstacles daily, thanks to the creative intelligence of its professionals, Gonzalez noted.
