In a statement, the Foreign Ministry pointed out that, despite this circumstance, the national government reiterates its willingness to support a solution through dialogue that will make it possible to achieve lasting peace as soon as possible, and offers its experience in dealing with humanitarian issues for the victims of the armed conflict.
Colombia will be part of the necessary scenarios that allow for a political solution to the war and calls for recognition of the principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, the need to guarantee security conditions for all and respect for human rights for the populations of both Ukraine and Russia, said the text.
It added that it is essential to prevent further damage to world food and energy security, to avoid any initiative on the use of nuclear weapons, and to consider as imperative the need to stop the spread of war to other geographical areas.
It is urgent, he continued, to stop the wars that are currently affecting the world, to stop the murder of thousands of people and to concentrate action on the urgent problems facing humanity such as climate crisis, the loss of biodiversity, poverty and inequality, among others.
Colombia will continue to raise its voice in the appropriate international forums where solutions to these challenges are addressed.
