The event, which was convened by Ukraine and to which Russia was not invited, concluded this Sunday with a declaration that did not achieve consensus, as 12 countries refused to sign it, including Brazil, India, South Africa, Mexico, Armenia, Bahrain, Indonesia, Slovakia, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Some 80 countries joined the declaration, including the vast majority of members of the European Union, the United States, Japan, Chile, and Ecuador.
“A partial initiative can be an activity of solidarity with one of the parties, but it will not necessarily have the effectiveness of the process to build a political agreement that resolves peace,” warned the Communist Party of Chile, which condemned the persevering interventionist policy of the United States, its arrogance in not assuming largely majority agreements in the UN and the inhuman measures with which they impose blockades and embargoes.
“Participation through NATO alerts us of the provocations and dangers that challenge coexistence on the planet,” the organization warned in a statement.
The Communist Party reaffirmed the imperative of peace and the political solution of conflicts between countries and peoples, with the participation of all parties.
