“Since its foundation on June 16, 1959, by the eternal commander Fidel Castro, Argentine-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara, Argentine journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti, and other prominent figures identified with the causes of the oppressed nations, the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina has established a precise way,” FELAP President Juan Carlos Camaño noted.
FELAP Secretary General Nelson del Castillo, in turn, pointed out that since its creation, Prensa Latina has faced many attempts to silence it, “which the enemies of truth and those who have used terrorism for such purposes have failed to achieve.”
FELAP leaders indicated that Prensa Latina has reached an extraordinary dimension under the presidency of journalist Luis Enrique Gonzalez, who has succeeded to place PL in a modern framework.
“Through him, we send our congratulations to those who are currently continuing the work of other journalists and press workers who, in the past, under adverse conditions, knew how to defeat the enemies of journalism committed to truth,” they stressed.
