Cuban authorities congratulate fathers on their day

Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated all Cuban fathers on their day, which is celebrated in many countries on the third Sunday of June.

On his X profile, the head of State wrote, “Happy Father’s Day and thanks for the example to Cuban (fathers) who, like Antonio, a thermoelectric plant mechanic, are capable of facing and overcoming the biggest challenges of the nation and inspire their children.”

The president of the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, used this digital platform to congratulate all fathers on his behalf and on behalf of the Cuban legislators.

The message from Lazo, who is also the president of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, concluded with a quote from National Hero José Martí, “The qualities of fathers remain in the spirits of the children.”

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, in turn, expressed congratulations and a fraternal embrace on behalf of the Cuban Government.

In the same line, other leaders of the Government and the Communist Party of Cuba, including Vice President Salvador Valdés and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, sent congratulatory messages.

Happy day to Cuban fathers, who fight tirelessly to preserve the achievements of the Cuban Revolution (1959) and happiness for their people, Valdés wrote.

Meanwhile, Rodríguez congratulated the fathers who work at the Foreign Ministry for their dedication and daily example.

According to historical notes, the first celebration of Father’s Day in Cuba took place on June 19, 1938, at the initiative of writer and artist Dulce María Borrero (1883-1945), who advocated for the generalization of this tribute in the country.

The recognition of the importance of the role of the father figure in the family is commemorated on different dates around the world, showing the diversity of traditions and customs.
