Rome, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) The Italy-Cuba Friendship Association (ANAIC) congratulated the Latin American News Agency Prensa Latina, which is celebrating 65 years of uninterrupted work as an alternative media in favor of truth on Sunday.

ANAIC President Marco Papacci highlighted in a video message addressed to all Prensa Latina workers that “it has become an essential reference for those who, from the Global South, defend multilateralism, the objective of international communication in the face of fake news.”

Papacci recalled that Prensa Latina emerged after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 under the direction of Argentine journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti. Since the first day, it had outstanding Latin American figures, such as Rodolfo Walsh and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, among other personalities.

Prensa Latina, he said, “has survived the most diverse attacks in its 65 years of existence and some 40 correspondents all over the world.”

Papacci emphasized that the Prensa Latina correspondents in Italy constantly follow the work of solidarity, including the ANAIC activities and the most significant events in this European nation.

The ANAIC president concluded his message by congratulating “all Prensa Latina workers” on this anniversary.
