US sends armored vehicles to Haiti and gangs rehearse its destruction

Port-au-Prince, June 15 (Port-au-Prince) Gangs in Haiti are today looking for new urban strategies, such as traps to neutralize the armored vehicles of the national police, which received this type of vehicles from the United States.

The criminals’ plan paid off last week, when a team of that type fell into a gap, could not advance any further, and a hail of bullets from automatic weapons ended the lives of three agents of the anti-gang command, and a fourth suffered wounds.

Faced with the intention of the Haitian National Police to exterminate the coalition of gangs that control 80 percent of Port-au-Prince, the criminals returned to their strongholds, but are not standing idly by.

Observers -according to the digital newspaper Haiti Libre- report that armed groups dig ditches in the roads, cover them with planks and then place paving stones, and this procedure is multiplying.

This tactic of destroying armored vehicles at the level of rustic traps is for some a kind of test, since the international force that will try to annihilate the gangs will use this type of combat means.

For the occupation troops, as the bandits consider them, it would be very dangerous to patrol an unknown country with urban infantry.

When the gang members neutralize a fortified vehicle, they appropriate the weapons, ammunition and communication equipment, then, to make their misdeeds known to their local and foreign adversaries, they post videos on social networks of the armored vehicles engulfed in flames with a dense column of black smoke.

The Haitian National Police will receive 35 armored vehicles promised by the United States, which will help combat the gang coalition.

The first group of these infantry devices known as MaxxPro arrived in Haiti. Military sources indicate that the International MaxxPro is an armored wheeled personnel carrier, which will be protected against mines and ambushes.

These carriers began manufacturing in 2007 and is widely used by the United States Marine Corps.

Washington -some media recall- is considered here to be the culprit of the economic, political and social chaos that the Caribbean country is experiencing, intervened militarily in 1915 and supposedly abandoned it in 1934.

Most of the weapons and ammunition used by gang members who torment the population, come from the United States.
