Universities of Cuba and Russia strengthen academic ties

Cuba-Rusia-12-1
Camagüey, Cuba, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) In keeping with the strengthening of ties between Cuba and Russia, the University of Camagüey (UC) recalls the links with the recent visit by officials from its Pyatigorsk counterpart.

In order to celebrate Russia Day on June 12, officials from this institution, headed by Professor Natalia Khomovich, visited the UC.

The Hall of Symbols of the first institution of its kind founded by the Cuban Revolution in 1967, hosted the meeting between Cuban and Russian academics who were joined by Russian students who are doing internships in the Faculties of Language and Communication, and Economic Sciences.

According to the official website of the University of Camagüey, the official herself did not waste time in showing gratitude to the Cubans for welcoming them.

“Thanks to this friendly country, to this great university, to its rector, professors and students, for opening this long path to strengthening international relations between both institutions,” Khomovich said.

The academic also noted that these gestures help “contribute so that in another part of the world we can celebrate the national holiday and share the culture, feelings, history and traditions of my nation.”

“The professor also delivered to UC Rector Santiago Lajes Choy a Roadmap to strengthen the interaction between both centers; as well as Russian language and grammar manuals for the use of students and teachers of the institution.”

The UC rector pointed out that “celebrating Russia Day together is of special significance because of what that nation has always meant to our people and the Revolution.”

For more than six decades, the peoples of Cuba and Russia have maintained a bond of more than close cooperation in fields such as science, sports or education.

Currently, several of the professors at the University of Camagüey have the experience of having studied in the former Soviet Union, an academic legacy that endures to this day.
