In a message posted on X, Griffiths urged to implement the resolution passed on Thursday by the UNSC to halt escalation in the capital of North Darfur state.
At the same time, Griffiths insisted on the pressing need to protect civilians, allow and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and immediately stop the fighting.
Similar demands are being included in the resolution adopted on Thursday by UNSC which called for the end to the siege of the Rapid Security Forces (RSF) in El Fasher.
The text, which received 14 votes in favor and Russia´s abstention, called to avoid a catastrophe by expressing deep concern about the outbreak of fighting in the city and the risk of further escalation.
It also called on the rival forces to ensure the protection of civilians, including allowing people to enter and leave El Fasher if they so wish.
It also called for facilitating the rapid, safe, unimpeded and sustained passage of humanitarian aid to civilians in need, including removing bureaucratic and other impediments.
The UNSC called for increased cooperation with UN agencies and the urgent reopening of the Adre border with Chad in an effort to expand humanitarian assistance.
