Such a willingness was expressed during a virtual exchange between the chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Felix Martinez, and Alexander Babakov, vice president of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly.
Alexander Babakov described Cuba as a model of firmness, resistance and integrity, and expressed his rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on Cuba.
Martinez said that the Cuban-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technical Collaboration is the main mechanism for the follow-up of bilateral projects identified by both sides.
Regarding the transcendence of this working meeting, he said that it is about the follow-up and support from the two parliaments to strategic and high priority issues, covering key sectors of Cuba’s Economic and Social Development Plan, and others of mutual interest.
The agreements adopted at last year’s meeting in Havana have been followed up and attended to by the corresponding bodies and evaluated by the Intergovernmental Commission, he stressed.
