21st Che Week begins in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Jun 14 (Prensa Latina) The 21st Che Week begins in Argentina on Friday with activities to pay tribute to revolutionary fighter Ernesto Guevara (1928-1967), 96 years after his birthday.

The tributes to the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla fighter started in his hometown, Rosario, in Santa Fe province, with a ceremony at the Monument to the Flag, in which members of the Regional Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba will participate.

The Che Guevara Center for Latin American Studies in that city will also reopen its doors after renovating its premises and renewing its collection, including a library for studying Latin American history, politics, economy, society, and culture.

The keynote speech “Che Eterno” (Eternal Che) will be held in Caraguatai, Misiones, and trees will be planted in La Calecita, where the restoration of the Guevara-De la Serna family home is underway.

Activities are also planned at the La Pastora Museum in San Martin de los Andes, Neuquen, where young Ernesto and his friend Alberto Granado stopped during their second motorcycle trip through Latin America.

As part of the program, the Casa del Che institution in Alta Gracia will host cultural events, debates, and lectures about the legacy of the outstanding revolutionary fighter and the years he lived with his family in Cordoba, from 1935 to 1937 and from 1939 to 1943.
