Turkish President praises Spanish counterpart for backing Palestine

Ankara, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, today praised the principles of the Spanish head of state, Pedro Sanchez, for his support of the Palestinian cause in recent months. In this sense, Sanchez assured that, for this cause, 'he has a special place in the hearts of the Turkish population'.

During a business forum at the BBVA headquarters, Erdogan stressed that Madrid and Ankara founded the Alliance of Civilizations and mentioned the massacre and genocide in the Gaza Strip.

He also regretted the lack of progress regarding a ceasefire, pointed out that no nation with a conscience can accept this situation, and specifically thanked Sanchez for his forceful and firm position.

On the other hand, Erdogan hopes that this economic forum and the High-Level Meeting (HLM) between the Turkish and Spanish governments will result in a commitment to greater cooperation, based on trade relations that already amount to around 20 billion dollars.
