Heavy rains in northern Vietnam leave three people dead

Hanoi, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Three people dead and several missing is the partial toll of heavy rains that hit some localities in the north of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh confirmed, calling on authorities and people to overcome the hardships.

Due to the influence of a tropical depression, from the night of June 8 until Monday morning, heavy rainfall ranging from 40 to 250 millimeters occurred in that region, which caused the water level of the Lo River in Ha Giang and Gam River in Bao Lac to rise, exceeding the alarm level three.

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, from the 14th to the 17th, the northern mountainous and medium-sized areas will continue to report rains, with high risk of flash floods and landslides.

Accordingly, and in a dispatch issued today, the Vietnamese head of Government demanded provinces and relevant government bodies to focus on overcoming the consequences of floods and rains and proactively respond to natural disasters.

It is necessary to pay attention to stabilizing the lives of villagers and support the families victims of flooding, and all those affected, the text says and proposes to closely monitor developments and take measures to ensure the safety and lives of citizens, especially those in vulnerable areas.
