Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mario Vieria met here today on the sidelines of the Brics Plus Ministerial Council.

During the meeting, both foreign ministers agreed on the positive state of bilateral relations, while sharing criteria in relation to the international agenda and the Latin American and Caribbean region.

The head of the Caribbean nation’s diplomacy, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, expressed solidarity and support for the situation suffered by the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, after the heavy rains and floods that devastated the territory since late April, leaving more than a hundred people dead and missing.

He also thanked the South American country for its rejection of Cuba’s inclusion in the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism, orchestrated by the United States.

Prior to this exchange, in the morning session, the Antillean foreign minister met with his counterparts from Belarus, Sergey Aléinik, and Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, with whom he also reviewed the development of bilateral ties.

Rodriguez acknowledged Minsk’s support to Havana in condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation for more than six decades, with an extensive tightening in recent years.

Meanwhile, together with the main representative of the Egyptian diplomacy, they agreed on the need to put an end to Israel’s escalation against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and the support for the recognition of Palestine as a State of the United Nations Organization.
