The event, which will run until June 11th, is chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As reportedly said, the Council will exchange opinions on current global issues, including the joint efforts to strengthen true multilateralism in international relations.
The foreign ministers will also discuss current regional items, interaction between the BRICS countries within the framework of the association and on other platforms, and the prospects for multifaceted cooperation in the year of the Russian Federation’s Presidency of the bloc in three main areas: politics and security, economy and finance and humanitarian relations.
Participants will evaluate in detail key aspects of the formation of a more just world order, as well as the role of countries of the Global South and East in these processes.
The Russian Foreign Ministry assured that the main task is to find answers to common challenges facing the international community to ensure equal security, sustainable development, and long-term economic growth.
Lavrov confirmed that during the event special attention will be paid to the implementation of the instructions of state leaders contained in the declaration of the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg in August 2023 on the development of modalities for a new category of partner states of the association in preparation for the Summit in Kazan in October this year.
