Budapest, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) The result of the European Parliament (EP) elections will determine the fate of the Ukrainian conflict, Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, said.

The hope of finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine will be possible in case of the victory of the peace forces in the EU elections, Orban said at a press conference.

Going to the polls to elect part of the 720 members of the European Parliament, as other European states are doing now, Orban estimated that at the moment one of the main issues of the European elections is peace or war in Ukraine.

Our main task now is to win the elections to the European Parliament and that is why we are closely following the elections in Germany, France, Italy and other European states, where the issue of Ukraine is in the foreground, the Magyar statesman said.

The top leader of the ultranationalist Fidesz party considered that the Ukrainian conflict and the possible peaceful way out of it has become an issue for the whole Europe.

For the elections to the European Parliament, 11 political parties are running and fighting for 21 seats in this legislative body. At the moment, 13 seats are in the hands of the Fidesz government alliance with the Christian Democrats.

The left-wing opposition, made up of the Democratic Union, the Socialist party and the Dialogue for Hungary-Greens party, controls five seats in the EP, the liberals of the Momentum party, two, and the ultra-right-wing Yobbik formation (Movement for a Better Hungary), one.
