According to a report to which Prensa Latina had access to, in May, 4,711 such surgical procedures were performed, including 1,180 major operations and 3,693 minor ones.
The document states that 3.6 minor surgeries are performed for each major intervention. The monthly plan in this medical area is 3,419, and it is 138 percent overfulfilled.
The report states that by 2024 Cuban doctors in Haiti expect they will have done 43,680 operations.
Up to May, 18,131 operations were to be performed, and 22,528 were performed. Now, 21,152 are pending to close 2024.
When referring to major surgeries, 119.7 percent and 143.7 percent of minor surgeries have been performed.
Cuban doctors in Haiti performed hysterectomies, cesarean sections, ectopic pregnancies, inguinal herniorrhaphy, hydroceles, appendectomies, among other operations, in addition to emergency surgeries.
