Cuba will be present in different sports disciplines such as wushu, basketball and soccer, according to the Cuban Sports Institute (INDER).
The last two disciplines, according to the press release, Cuba will compete in the novel “figital” method, which combines the physical environment with the virtual one, and in which the sum of the results in each one defines the final position.
For this multi-sport event “around 5,000 participants from over 90 countries are expected to attend, including BRICS member States, and other invited nations”.
A total of 27 sports will be competed in. In addition to those mentioned, there will be athletics, swimming, diving, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, canoeing, rowing, judo, fencing, tennis, weightlifting, badminton and wrestling.
There will also be action in other disciplines such as artistic swimming, horseback riding, sambo, boxing, chess, karate, and table tennis, acrobatic rock’n roll and break dancing, the latter being one of the attractions for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
According to the organizers, the main objective of the competition will be to strengthen sporting and friendly ties between BRICS member states and the invited countries, based on the principles of equality and non-discrimination in terms of the eligibility of participating athletes.
