Speaking at the plenary session of the 27th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, SPIEF 2024, on Friday, the African president recalled that the collective West is trying to maintain hegemony, which goes against the aspirations of most world nations.
The old order they seek to uphold leads to the marginalization of most countries in the Global South and constantly indicates with whom friendship should be encouraged, Mnangagwa stated.
He noted that a multipolar world will open up more opportunities for underdeveloped countries in general and African countries in particular, as it will provide the opportunity for development and industrialization.
The Zimbabwean head of State stressed the importance of seeing African nations with great potential for development and not only as countries with colossal natural resources, including rare minerals.
Mnangagwa also called for joint efforts to address humanity’s challenges, including climate change, technological revolution, pandemics, economic crises, and armed conflicts.
