Sri Lankan newspaper claims justice for Cuba

Colombo, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) The Mawbina newspaper in this capital, published the request of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka to the United States to remove Cuba from the arbitrary list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

The daily publication reproduced the statement in which the political organization further urged the Colombo government to join the growing world campaign demanding the cessation of Washington’s aggressiveness against the Caribbean nation.

It also urged the authorities of the South Asian country to demand the lifting of all the unacceptable measures of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that for more than 60 years US governments have imposed against the Cubans.

The Communist Party of Sri Lanka denounced that Washington’s unjust designation of Cuba as a country sponsoring terrorism serves as an instrument of coercion and economic pressure against the Cuban people and is also a major obstacle to the commercial and economic development of that island.

He pointed out that anyone doing business with Cuba runs the risk of receiving punitive measures by the U.S. government, by this, the Caribbean country is prevented from obtaining energy, food, and even medical equipment for its inhabitants.
