Police officers were deployed in Manabi, Guayas, Santa Elena, Los Rios, El Oro, Esmeraldas, and Guayaquil to carry out raids and arrests.
The National Police explained on its X profile that those actions are part of the so-called Great Operation Zero Impunity, which seeks to fight gangs declared terrorists nationwide.
On Thursday, President Daniel Noboa mentioned that he will increase and strengthen the military operations in the country despite the militarization questioning here.
Noboa suggested that the violent reaction of criminal groups in the last few weeks was because “they feel cornered.
The Executive chief ordered this week the transfer of the National Police Command to Manta, in Manabi province, and coordinate the fight against organized crime.
