Its approval took place during the meeting of the International Labor Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 3rd to 14th, the Presidency’s website published.
Labor Minister Luis Miguel De Camps said the election was an honor for the Dominican Republic and a testimony to its commitment to decent work and social justice.
De Camps expressed the country’s efforts to promote the principles and values of the ILO have been recognized, especially in the generation of decent employment and sustainable development in the region.
Sources stated that the promotion of fair and sustainable labor policies are at the core of the actions undertaken by the Ministry of Labor, committed to the boost of the ILO agenda, along with the other members of the ILO Governing Body.
This election positions the Dominican Republic as a key player in the development of labor policies at the international level.
The International Labor Conference governs the general policies of the ILO and brings together delegates from governments, workers and employers from member States around the world.
