“Congratulations to the members of the Ministry of the Interior,” ANPP President Esteban Lazo wrote on the social network X. “With the strength of the people, they have devoted themselves to the defense of the Homeland, the Revolution and Socialism, with admirable dedication, loyalty and commitment,” the message of Lazo, who is also president of the Council of State, added.
In response to the hostility and attempts of the U.S. government to overthrow the Cuban Revolution (January 1, 1959), this Ministry was founded in 1961.
The military structure integrated dependencies of the Ministries of Interior and Justice, oriented to the protection of internal order and national security.
During its growth process, it took under its command the Fire and Forest Ranger Corps, the Canine Technique, the Border Guard Troops and the Special Brigade.
The Ministry of the Interior works with the people in the confrontation of criminal behavior and actions in the Cuban territory and also against those created or executed from abroad.
Its troops also participate in efforts to preserve human life and safeguard the country’s assets in the event of natural disasters and health crises.
