World Environment Day honored by art in Cuba

Matanzas, Cuba, June 5 (Prensa Latina) The artistic movement in the western province of Matanzas honored World Environment Day today by opening an exhibition at the headquarters of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artisans (ACAA) of the territory.

Works by various creators in different artistic branches, among which photography, painting arts and crafts stand out, make up the exhibition inserted within the Eighth Provincial Hall in the Environment, a project led by the artist and curator Frank Ortega.

The Hall, started in 2014, with the idea of raising awareness among the population about caring for the environment, of which we are all a part, Ortega explained.

The curator expressed that scrap metal, scraps of fabric and skins are among the materials used in the works selected for the exhibition, which have elements that were reused to fulfill a decorative function.

The exhibition includes pieces that were selected by a jury, which evaluated the quality of the message and the innovation capacity of each creator to highlight the importance of caring for flora and fauna, he pointed out.

According to the artist, among the works worthy of recognition, those that used recycling through the invention of the participants as the main method stand out, by using waste elements and giving them a new utilitarian value for society.

Promoting knowledge among the population about the existence of actions that are carried out to prevent the deterioration of nature constitutes the fundamental axis of the exhibition that will be exhibited during the current month at the ACAA.
