Flu cases increase in Uruguay, authorities call for vaccination

Montevideo, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Flu cases continue to increase on Wednesday in Uruguay, where an rise in the number of contagions of the AH3N2 type, considered one of the most dangerous, has been reported.

In this regard, the National Academy of Medicine issued a statement in which it urged the population to get vaccinated.

It noted low levels of vaccination even within risk groups and noted that due to respiratory diseases, there is high occupation of hospital beds and patients in intensive care units.

The MSP noted an increase in the rate of consultations for acute respiratory infections in emergency rooms, a trend that has prevailed in the last five weeks.

The age group with the highest incidence is those over 65 years of age.
